BIRTHDAY CAKE
mindful hearts
together, grow
the current, shared
through every pose.
Lineage held, that Great Spine!
Spirit flows
through All, connected –
base to bloom,
what death is there?
heavy in soil, dampened roots
under bodies, hushed in the rotting.
serpents hiss amidst the bones
at the heel of He who watches, still;
in the form of a corpse, He lay at Her feet
in ash and promise, demonic defeat!
cold, rigor fingers lock
round the weapon, kissing ground,
put down as eyes rise, bliss-filled
towards His lover,
oh, the slaughter!
tongues and teeth and Truth, exposed –
She’ll take your head, She wills it so
(so be it!)
letting all attachments go
like seeds in a breeze after battle, blow!
make a wish, and pray it well!
will Mā hear? Time will tell.
i wish for sweet and steady light,
to taste the sugar and delight!
no birthday cake for me tonight,
for what could taste better than bhaktī?!
